Peepli Live movie song Mehaangaai daayan personifies plight of common man

Aamir Khan, who does everything perfectly, is imbibing all the essential ingredients to make his much acclaimed venture “Peeple Live” a classic. He has introduced a song in it that touches the burning issue of price-rise. Recently, people in India witnessed the strike throughout to voice their disapproval against the mounting prices. The song exemplifies the same plight in musical way.  Mehaangaai daayan is the song in movie “Peepli Live” that reflects the troubles that the common man is encountering in his daily schedule. The song is sung by the Raghuvir Yadav, protagonist in the movie and he has been able to characterize the issue of price-rise. The words explain that though the husband earns a lot but rise in price empties his pocket. It elucidates the hike in prices of petrol and diesel every month. The rise in price is termed as second wife who is consuming all the money. The song comes naturally to the native ladies of village, Bhadwai, where the movie has been shot. “Peepli live”, directed by Anusha Rizvi, is the tale of poor farmer, Natha (Raghuvir Yadav) who is under the loads of debt and like other farmers of India he is incapable of paying it off. When he learns about farmers committing suicide and then compensated by government with one lac, he makes an announcement that he will commit suicide to secure his farm. This problem of hike in prices is extended throughout India from the smallest territory to the metropolitan cities. Mehaangaai daayan is a satire on the present situation of rising prices. “Peepli Live” has also analyzed the standard of living which is lowering down with the rise in prices. The people are doing donkey work to meet the basic necessities. To make life better they migrate to cities where their problems get multiplied owing to unbearable expenses. Thus, it echoes the crisis of common man that he is facing daily.
